Described in this post are details of what to expect before, during and after your first reiki session. I personally feel it is important to know what to expect prior to having your first reiki session as it adds that extra level of comfort for you prior to having your session.
For those that have never had a reiki session and are interested in having a session, I have also included details of what reiki healing is.
So, what is Reiki?
Reiki is a non-touch form of healing, where energy is channelled from the reiki practitioner to the client by placing the hands a couple of inches above the client’s body. Throughout the session, clients usually experience feeling the energy working through them through sensations such as heat, tingling, a general feeling of well being and some experience feeling the energy, where they feel as though the practitioner’s hands are placed on them, when it is in fact non touch.
Prior to your first reiki session, we would discuss the reasons for your interest, either by phone or when we initially meet, to ensure I have an understanding as to what you are hoping to gain from the session.
By having a free consultation, it not only allows for me to understand what you are hoping to gain from the reiki session but also adds a level of comfort for you when you know what to expect prior to having your first session.
The more comfortable and relaxed you feel, the better, as this allows for the reiki healing to be most beneficial.
For those who have never had a reiki session, and not sure what to expect, I always tell my clients the only thing you need to do, is to be as relaxed as is possible for you.
Feeling relaxed is an important component, as it ensures the energy can flow and go to where it is needed in the body throughout the reiki session.
After our initial discussion, it allows for me to understand what you are hoping to gain from the reiki session and from here I will advise exactly how the session will be structured, so you have an idea of what to expect during the reiki session.
To give you a general sense in knowing what to expect during the reiki session, the session usually consists of a longer time spent treating any specific pain points whilst also ensuring you receive full body energy healing.
Chakra balancing can also be incorporated in the reiki healing session, where I integrate the knowledge I have of the seven main energy chakras, offering a unique balancing session for each individual chakra, ensuring you receive full-body energy healing, alongside healing on your specific needs.
Whether you have your reiki session through distance reiki or in person, it is always recommended to be in a quiet comfortable space where you can close your eyes and be as relaxed as is possible.
For those that attend an in-person session, you will lay down on a massage table fully clothed, in a quiet and relaxed environment.
Relaxing music is played throughout the session and it is not unusual to fall asleep or go into a deep meditative state allowing for deep healing to occur.
After the reiki session is complete, you can expect to feel deeply relaxed with an increased feeling of well-being and having experienced complete or reduced pain relief of any physical or mental discomfort you had prior to having your session.
After your reiki session, it helps to keep yourself hydrated as it helps to further release toxins naturally.
Overall, you can expect to feel deeply relaxed, lighter, and happier after your reiki session.
